Selinus University School of Religious Sciences awards only
PhD by Research degrees via Distance Learning
We believe that an authentic spiritual and religious formation is bound to influence people’s social and civil life, especially in an era of historic changes and global transitions. Religious Studies - by also encompassing history, scripture and tradition - help us to better understand culture, existential meaning and interreligious dialogue. They also prepare us to explore our spirituality and to face the new challenges arising, such as climate change, digital transition, energy and mobility sustainability, health system and much more. Furthermore, a Ph.D. by Research in a specific religious or theological area can be a great opportunity for those who intend to work in the humanities and in the social sector at a professional level.
The structure of the Ph.D. by Research program offered by Selinus University School of Religious Sciences consists in an original, autonomous and independent research that has to be carried out by the candidate in any of the available majors. The program does not have semesters splitting or on-campus coursework to attend. It rather consists in independent and autonomous theoretical research on a specific religious study area, which has to be implemented in a final thesis – at least 100 pages (150000 characters) long – that the student shall complete within 24 months.
The Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) by Research is the only doctorate degree that may be earned via distance learning in Selinus University. It must be clear that any laboratory method or professional practice cannot occur through a distance learning system. Therefore, no other doctorate degree besides the Ph.D. by Research can be issued by Selinus University School of Religious Sciences.
If any candidates wish to pursue a different specialization than the ones available, they can agree with our Secretariat a major specifically tailored for their individual needs. All Ph.D. programs are accredited by the WCI (World Certification Institute) and authenticated via Blockchain technology.
